- ABOUT THE SUMMIT -
This Summit invites students, seafood businesses, teachers, and commercial systems operators to dive into how live seafood systems work and why they are essential to Oregon’s Blue Economy.
It’s designed to be hands-on and approachable. Participants will get an introduction to the basics of live systems, along with a closer look at the growing education and workforce efforts happening related to Live Systems. That includes simple, practical learning around system operation, seafood handling, and water quality management.
We’ll also dig into a bigger question: how can live systems help Oregon keep more of its own seafood local? That means thinking about how these systems improve quality, unlock new market opportunities, and help strengthen local coastal businesses in a global seafood market that’s highly competitive.
Along the way, we’ll highlight the people and organizations already doing this work on the coast, so participants can see what’s happening locally and make real connections to the innovation and opportunities flowing in their own communities.
